FAQ

Q: I can see other copies on discogs for the same or less than you’re selling them, I think your records are expensive. Why should I buy from you?

A: Unfortunately buying pricey records from Brazil and being disappointed is a regular occurrence, I say this from personal experience. A lot of sellers in Brazil work on a different grading level than those in the US/EU. Commonly a VG+ here will be a VG in Europe. Whether this is down to a general belief that the record matches their grading system or dishonest over grading to obtain more for the record is also a question.

Brazil is also rife with dealers selling ‘polished’ records, a practice where a record is made to look like it’s clean but grooves are worn down, the sound is then muddy and often distorted. A certain seller on Discogs is widely known to do this and no one who’s in the know will buy from him, as ‘gringos’ are often unaware of the practice and actually targeted, it results in dissatisfaction when the record's in their hands. Luckily there are some really fair and honest dealers here, my good friend @croco.discos being one of them.

If you think it’s possible to take a trip to Brazil and find grails in good condition for a better price, you’d have to be either very well connected, be here for a good few months or be very very lucky. I often imagine what it would have been like digging here in the 90s, unfortunately that’s nothing like the reality these days. Sure, these records can be found here but you’ll be paying through the roof, often way higher than the top Discogs price for a weaker condition.

In short, the price and grade you’re seeing on discogs listings shipping from Brasil is often not going to match the expectations of an avid collector, which is something I can mitigate.

Also, If you’re not happy with a record I’ve sold you, we can find a solution, not something you can often do easily with Brazilian sellers on Discogs.

Q: If I receive a record I’m not happy with, what can I do?

A: I do everything within my power to make sure this doesn’t happen. If in the rare case it does, you can reach out to me and we’ll find a solution right away. I want people to be happy with their records as a collector myself, what goes around comes around after all.

Q: Can I get a discount/make you an offer?

A: Sometimes this is possible, but for clarity, I’m mostly only making around 25% profit on a record. This is a hobby for me and after cleaning/grading/photographing/writing descriptions/uploading/packing/shipping/many hours digging, this is nothing close to minimum wage. I’d ask that you’d consider this before making an offer or negotiating.

Q: How can I pay you?

A: PayPal friends and family or Wise (International Bank Transfer). I’ll send over the details as soon as the sale is confirmed

Q: Do you clean the record before it’s shipped?

A: Always! I use a Degritter Ultrasonic Cleaner to ensure the best possible audio quality is achieved from the record.

Q: When will you ship my record/when will I receive tracking?

A: As this is a hobby and I have a pretty busy schedule, please bear with me and don’t expect for it to be shipped the next day, in most cases this isn’t realistic. I am to ship all records within 1 week after the sale, in some circumstances it may be longer but I’ll keep you updated!
